Leadership Team Bruce Bodaken Bruce Bodaken leads Blue Shield of California, a 3.3 million member not-for-profit health plan. Since Bodaken became CEO in 2000, Blue Shield has been the fastest growing health plan in California. Membership has more than doubled and revenues have risen from $3 billion to nearly $8 billion. Prior to joining Blue Shield in 1994, Bodaken was senior vice president and associate chief operating officer of FHP International, a Southern California HMO. He currently serves on the boards of the California Business Roundtable, and the School of Pharmacy of the University of California at San Francisco. A native of Iowa, Bodaken taught philosophy at the college level before his career in health care. Bodaken holds a master's degree in philosophy from the University of Colorado and a bachelor's degree from Colorado State University. |
