Clem O'Donnell
Chief Technology Officer

Clem O'Donnell helped co-found WageWorks and has led all system and application development since inception. He takes a consultative approach to his role, applying technology to solve concrete problems and make a difference for the customer and the consumer. Under his leadership, the company has been first in its industry to develop a completely integrated management platform spanning a range of savings and spending accounts. WageWorks is also the only provider whose platform offers built-in debit cards backed by an advanced automatic data exchange system.

Unlike many technology executives, O'Donnell came to WageWorks with extensive consulting experience rather than a pure engineering background. His 15 years of leadership positions include vice president of services at Vitria Technology, an eBusiness infrastructure software company, where he built systems to integrate data and automate transactions among diverse enterprise applications. This experience is reflected in WageWorks' efficient, transparent information hub, which brings together employers, service providers, health plans, and financial institutions to serve plan participants.

As a consultant at Forte Software and Oracle, he worked extensively with database, network, and distributed object technologies. He built on his core data management experience in these roles, developing two additional areas of expertise that have proven essential to WageWorks' success: a focus on creating a strong user interface to make technology accessible, and a concern for building the business infrastructure that can make it succeed.

O'Donnell holds a Bachelor's degree in Information Systems from Carnegie Mellon University.
