May Speck is Vice President of Human Resources of WageWorks. May is part of the leadership team responsible for executing WageWorks' strategic growth plan. May's background and experience is critical to WageWorks goal of building and sustaining a world-class, talent-based, service organization.
Before joining WageWorks, May was the Director of Global Human Resources of Zilog, Inc. As the Director of Global Human Resources, May was responsible for the entire company's domestic and international human resource function. May was part of the management team that led Zilog through a transformational period and helped to execute a restructuring plan that focused the business on its core products, rationalized manufacturing capacity, and reduced operating costs.
Prior to her time at Zilog, May was the Project Manager responsible for the restructuring of North America Hallmark Cards, Inc. In addition, she was the Human Resources & Organizational Consultant responsible for the strategic alignment of the people systems. In that capacity, she also and managed and coordinated the work of the HR Specialists and managed all key HR initiatives for the Information Technology Division of Hallmark Cards, Inc. While supporting the Information Technology Division (700 employees), May was instrumental in leading the division through a major change effort that dramatically reduced baseline spending by 26 million –over a four-year period, freeing up critical monies for new strategic initiatives. In addition, she led the design and development team responsible for the realignment of all people systems for the IT division, which resulted in increased employee and internal customer satisfaction.
May has also held positions in many HR specialist functions, such as staffing, employee relations, and workforce planning. May has also worked at the Center for Employment Dispute Resolution & the ADR Consortium in Chicago, Illinois where she was an ADR Case Coordinator and CEDR Research Fellow. In addition, May was an entrepreneur working to grow the start-up company Shawnee Oaks Manufacturing based out of her home town of Carbondale, Illinois.
May holds a Masters of Science in human resources from Loyola University Chicago and a Bachelor of Science from the University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana. |
