SAN MATEO, Calif.--- August 30, 2016 --- WageWorks, Inc., a leader in administering Consumer-Directed Benefits (CDBs), today announced a partnership with Uber that allows Uber riders to pay for uberPOOL rides with their WageWorks commuter benefit pre-tax funds, resulting in meaningful savings on rides to and from work, making the commute more affordable for working people in America. The partnership will be available to millions of WageWorks program participants and Uber riders, especially for the increasing number of on-the-go professionals.
This is the first time Uber has partnered with a CDB administrator to leverage pre-tax commuter benefits for rides. Beginning today, Uber riders in New York can use their WageWorks commuter benefit to pay for uberPOOL rides when they commute to and from work. With the addition of uberPOOL, employees enrolled in WageWorks’ commuter benefits now have even more commuting options available to them.
“This partnership will make our riders’ commutes easier by allowing them to use pre-tax benefits to pay for their uberPOOL commute. This furthers our goal of getting more people in fewer cars, while making New Yorkers’ daily commute more affordable and more efficient,” said Josh Mohrer, General Manager of Uber New York.
UberPOOL is currently available in parts of Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Denver, Los Angeles, Miami, New Jersey, New York City, Philadelphia, San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle and Washington D.C. The use of WageWorks commuter benefits is available to commuters in New York first and will be phased into additional cities with uberPOOL.
“WageWorks is excited to add uberPOOL to our service offering, as it further extends our ability to provide the convenience and savings associated with commuter benefits to more people”, said Dan Neuburger, President of WageWorks Commuter Services. “It’s a winning partnership we hope many commuters will utilize to save more of their hard-earned money.”
