How did you get the internship?
The Senior Director of Product Marketing referred me to the internship because she thought I would be a good fit. So, I applied and got the job!
What surprised you about working at WageWorks?
I was surprised by how welcoming and open the WageWorks employees were to a new intern. Along with being friendly, everyone was appreciative of my help and always willing to answer any questions I had. I was even allowed to audit meetings and give my input on certain subjects, which made me feel like an important part of the team. The genuineness of the WageWorks employees was obvious; not only through their actions at work, but also in the decisions and ideas they had for the company and clients. Every time I talked with or attended a meeting with my team members, I could tell that they really cared about the well-being of their customers. They always tried to give the best of the best and worked toward creating new ways for clients to get greater benefits from the WageWorks programs.
What did you learn working as an intern?
Working as an intern I learned how much hard work and thought goes into the parts of a company that some people might overlook. I remember during a meeting one day, the team was discussing the character developments in a new how to video. The conversation was about the facial features of the characters and how they didn’t have a very friendly or relatable look. Although this sounds like a minor detail, it lead to a remodel of the entire video and could have been a major factor in client’s decisions to start using WageWork’s programs. Before my experience at WageWorks, I did not realize that even the smallest components like this can be so important to the success of a company and can have a significant impact on the growth of a business.
What did you do as an intern at WageWorks?
During my time at WageWorks, I was able to assist different team members on the Marketing team with their projects as well as participate in meetings. I helped with organizing data and ideas, researched on social media sites, and even helped create my own blog post for the new website. Since the team was busy doing a rebranding, it was a really exciting time to be working with them. I’m so happy I got the opportunity to learn from an enthusiastic and dedicated group of people and work in such an optimistic environment.
