A WageWorks® Health Reimbursement Arrangement (HRA) is an employer-sponsored benefit to reimburse a portion of your eligible out-of-pocket medical expenses, such as deductibles, coinsurance, and pharmacy expenses. Funded entirely by your employer, this reimbursement benefit helps you make healthcare more affordable.
Why sign up for a WageWorks HRA?
“I love my WageWorks HRA. My employer reimburses me for eligible healthcare expenses. It’s like getting free money. What could be smarter?”
- A happy WageWorks HRA participant
With your HRA, you can pay for eligible healthcare expenses with money that your employer contributes to your account. It’s like extra money in your pocket each year. Remaining funds in an HRA may be rolled over to the next year. Check with your benefits administrator for details about your HRA.
Your employer determines criteria for participating in an HRA. You sign up for your HRA through your employer during your Open Enrollment period. Your human resources department or benefits administrator can help you get started.
Unlike other healthcare benefit accounts, such as a Healthcare Flexible Spending Account or a Health Savings Account, you don’t make contributions to your HRA—only your employer does. An HRA is funded 100% by your employer. Ask your employer for details on the amount you’re eligible to receive under your HRA.
Your employer determines which expenses are eligible for reimbursement. Most plans reimburse eligible expenses up to the full available balance under your HRA. If your HRA is based on an accrual, you'll only be reimbursed the amount you've earned in it.
Unlike a non-Integrated or stand-alone Health Reimbursement Arrangement (HRA) an Integrated HRA is an employer-funded medical reimbursement plan linked with a group health insurance plan. The Integrated HRA is offered only to those at the company who take part in the group health insurance plan, as it is a supplement to help employees who elect group health insurance with their out of pocket healthcare costs.
To be considered for reimbursement under an Integrated HRA, you will need to:
Provide the dependent’s full Social Security Number and Date of Birth.
Certify that the dependent was covered under the Affordable Care Act (ACA)-compliant employer-sponsored group health plan (yours, your spouse’s, or their own) on the claim service date.
Use Integrated HRA Dependent form ONLY IF (1) you have not already provided the Social Security Number and Date of Birth for each dependent whose claims you want considered for payment from an Integrated HRA, AND (2) you do not intend to enter your claims online (via your online account or the WageWorks® EZ Receipts app).
IMPORTANT: This information must be received before your dependents’ claims are processed in order for their claims to be considered for payment from an Integrated HRA.
