What is it?
Save Money on Your Commute to Work
The Commuter Account is a pre-tax benefit that you can use to pay for public transit—including train, subway, bus, ferry, and eligible vanpool—and qualified parking expenses as part of your daily commute to work. The Commuter Account is a great way to save money each month on your commuting expenses.

How do I sign up?
Sign Up Now
Go to My Profile (hyperlink), and then click on Benefits – Spending Account – Commuter for details on how to enroll. On My HR, go to My Profile, then click on Benefits > Spending Account > Commuter for details on how to enroll.

How does it work?
How the Commuter Account Works
You decide how much to contribute to your Commuter Account, up to the allowed monthly limit. Funds are withdrawn from your paycheck for deposit to your account before taxes are deducted. You can pause or cancel contributions to your account at any time. There’s no “use it or lose it” as long as you are employed by Kaiser Permanente and enrolled in the program.

Using Your Account
WageWorks offers a variety of payment methods to choose from.
Use Your WageWorks Commuter Card
Use the convenient WageWorks Commuter Card to pay for transit and parking. You decide how much money to load onto your card each month to cover your monthly commuting costs.
Pay Your Provider
If your commuting expenses are consistent and predictable, schedule automated payments right from your account to load your transit card and pay parking providers at the start of each month. Simply access your account online to place your order and have eligible expenses paid directly from your account—no receipts or claim forms required.
Pay You Back
If your parking expenses are different from month to month, pay them yourself and then get reimbursed for eligible expenses. Arrange for funds to be deposited directly to your checking account or for a check to be mailed to you. Please note that this feature is available for parking expenses only.
Buy Your Pass
WageWorks purchases your transit pass using funds in your Commuter Account, and your pass is mailed directly to your home or office each month. Order your passes each month or schedule a recurring order.
Load Your SmartCard
Load money onto transit agency SmartCards (where available) directly from your Commuter Account.
Managing Your Account
You can manage your Commuter Account via a secure website on any computer or mobile device that’s connected to the Internet or via the WageWorks® EZ Receipts® mobile app. With the app, you can take a photo of your receipts and submit them for payment as well as check your account balance.

You can contribute up to the maximum contribution limits to your Commuter Account:

There’s no “use it or lose it” policy with you Commuter Account. Available balances can be rolled over year to year. Keep in mind that if you stop working for Kaiser Permanente, or are no longer eligible for commuter benefits, you are subject to the forfeiture rules of the plan.
