Beginning January 1, 2016, in order to comply with Internal Revenue Code (IRC) Section 132(f), the maximum pre-tax Commuter Benefits payroll deduction amounts are $255/month for transit and $255/month for parking.

How Do I Sign Up?
First Time Users
For City employees to enroll in the Commuter Benefits program, go to NYC Employee Self Service or contact your agency's Transit Benefit Coordinator. For more information - visit www.nyc.gov/payroll. Click here for a list of City agency Transit Benefit Coordinators.
Department of Education (DOE) employees can enroll at the DoE Web Employee Self Service/Web Payroll application that can be accessed online using your DoE Outlook e-mail ID and password at https://payrollportal.nycboe.net. You can also download an enrollment form from the DoE website at http://schools.nyc.gov. DOE forms are mailed to the Department of Education, 65 Court Street, Room 1003, Brooklyn, NY, 11201.
City University of New York (CUNY) Community College employees may download an enrollment form from the CUNY website at www.cuny.edu/transitbenefit or contact your Transit Benefit Coordinator.

If you Social Security number is referenced or requested, please use the last 4 digits of your Employee Reference Number (ERN) instead. You will also need to enter your home zip code.

A WageWorks Commuter Account is a great way to save money on your commute to work.
With a WageWorks Commuter Account, you can use tax-free funds to pay for public transportation such as train, subway, bus, ferry and parking as your daily commute to work. Funds are moved to your account before taxes are deducted, which reduces your overall tax burden.

The Premium TransitChek® MetroCard® provides an entire year of unlimited local rides and more convenient commuting.
It is delivered directly to your home and is ready to use. One card, good for the entire year! The monthly cost for this card is the same as the 30-day Unlimited Ride MetroCard - $116.50.
How it works

Signing up is easy
It’s quick and easy to sign up for your WageWorks Commuter Benefit Program.
You can now register on the WageWorks site log in.
You will need to enter your:
First and Last name
Date of birth (month and day)
Home zip code
ID Code (the last four digits of your employee reference number)
You will then need to create a User Name and Password
Once completed, you will be brought to your home page, specifically the Dashboard.
From the Dashboard, click on ‘ENROLL IN COMMUTER’
Then click on ‘PLACE COMMUTER ORDER’
Then click on the Commuter TRANSIT box
Then click ‘Next’ and then you will come to where you will select your operator - Click MTA
Then click on ‘MetroCard’ and you will see various options, one of which will be the Premium TransitChek MetroCard (PMC)
Then click ‘Next’, confirm your address (if your address is not correct, you must update with the City first then come back to the WageWorks website to enroll in the PMC).
You will be prompted to add a personal credit card to your account in case you do not have sufficient funds in your account by the 10th of the month to order the PMC for the upcoming month. The website is secure, your credit card will not be used without authorization.
Once you have completed all the steps, you will click on ‘Submit’ and you will receive an email confirmation.
The Premium TransitChek MetroCard will be mailed to your address on record within 10 days prior to the start of the benefit month.

In this plan, you fund an account with WageWorks with your pre-tax and post-tax payroll deductions and you can select a pass on the WageWorks website using the funds in your account. WageWorks will deliver your pass or ticket to your designated mailing address by the 1st day of each calendar month. WageWorks also allows you to securely supplement purchases on their website with your personal credit card to ensure you always have enough funds for your purchases. You can purchase multiple items such as train tickets and MetroCards. With the Transit Pass plan, you will pay an administrative fee of $3.05 per month through payroll deductions.
