Sun Tran Card

It’s a Smart Card with a computer chip instead of a magnetic stripe. For transit, the smart card will serve as the fare payment card and can store cash value or passes convenience and boarding ease. Just hold the card to the farebox or reader validator.

SunGO utilizes Smart Card technology to provide a convenient way to pay and transfer throughout the region with ease on Sun Tran, Sun Express, Sun Shuttle and the Sun Link streetcar.

While multiple pass types can be loaded on the SunGo Card, only the 30 Day Full Fare Pass, the 30 Day Express Pass and the Stored Values of $5.00, $10.00, $20.00, $30.00 and $40.00 are offered through WageWorks. The Maximum balance limit for the Card is $100.00.

The SunGo Card works Sun Tran, Sun Express, Sun Shuttle and the Sun Link streetcar.

Your SunGO cards may last up to 4 years. How long a card lasts depends on how well it’s taken care of. Washing, bending or cutting the card or ticket will damage the internal chip, making them inoperable. Once inoperable, a new card would need to be purchased.

When a SunGO Card, is tapped on the farebox/reader validator, the pass on the card will be activated from that date/time.

Participants must order a SunGo Card through WageWorks. We can only load cards assigned to our program.

A new Card is $5.00 and a replacement card fee is $2.00.

If you happen to experience problems using your SunGo Card, you can check your card balance at any farebox/reader validator, located in each station, to ensure that your card is active. If there is no physical damage to the SunGO Card, then bring it to the Sun Tran Administrative office. If an evaluation of the card indicates the card has a faulty chip, then the SunGO Card will be replaced at no charge. If your card appears to be inactive and not working at the faregate/farebox, contact WageWorks to complete a troubleshooting form for review and resolution. Once the issue is resolved you may be asked to check your card balance at the farebox/reader validator to validate the activation.

You will need to call the WageWorks Customer Service number at; 1-877-924-3967 and request a replacement Card.

Sun Tran does not offer refunds for SunGo Cards or individual money placed on the Sun SunGo Card. SunGo Cards issued through WageWorks are intended for use of the calendar monthly pass only. Any additional fares or funds are not eligible for refund by Sun Tran.

Keeping smart cards next to each other will not damage the cards. However, Sun Tran farebox/reader validator may not be able to read your card when it’s next to another smart card. If this happens, simply separate your SunGo Card from the other card and tap it on the target.
