Part 1: Ordering and funding a WageWorks Visa® Prepaid Commuter Card or a WageWorks MasterCard® Prepaid Commuter Card

The WageWorks Commuter card is a stored-valued card that works like a credit card at TAP vending machines and TAP vendor locations. In this order path you will be using the Commuter Card as a personal card, to fund and load fares onto your TAP card.

Step 1: Log onto your account on www.wageworks.com

Step 2: Click on the "Commuter" link. Next, select "Enroll in Commuter" and then "Commuter Transit." Finally select "TAP To Go" as the service provider.

Step 3: Select the “WageWorks Commuter Card” pass product.

Step 4: Select the amount you would like to have on your Commuter Card. To determine this amount, please identify how much you will need to fund your TAP card to support your monthly commute needs.

Step 5: Complete your order.

Please note the Commuter Card funds load on the 20th of the month. The value will not be available until that date.

Part 2: Getting a TAP card and funding your fare

You can purchase your TAP card online, by phone at 866.TAPTOGO (866.827.8646), at one of nearly 400 TAP vendor locations , or from TAP vending machines located at Metro Rail and Metro Orange Line Stations.

Now that you have the WageWorks Commuter Card, with funds available on it, you need to decide how you want to purchase a TAP card, fund your fare and load the card. You have three main options:

Option 1: Buy and load your TAP card online at www.taptogo.net

Step 1: Go to www.taptogo.net, and click on the “Buy a new TAP card” circle and then follow the instructions (which include setting up an account on their site, and registering the card).

Please Note: If you have a TAP card already, choose the "Reload my TAP card" option. 

You may need to set up an account if you do not already have one created.

Step 2: If you are new to TAP, follow the link that says “Not Registered?” and fill out the registration section. Click “Register” when you complete the section.

Step 3: Once you are registered, click on “Manage My Cards”

Step 4: Then click on "Purchase New Card".

Step 5: Then choose which fare type you would like loaded to your card.

Step 6: Click on the shopping cart icon at the top right of the screen and click "Edit and Checkout".

Step 7: Enter the address you want the card shipped to and click "Complete Checkout".

Option 2: Call 866-TAPTOGO 

Purchase-by-phone is another easy way to reload your TAP card. Simply dial 866.TAPTOGO (866.827.8646) and a TAP representative will be glad to assist you. To expedite your transaction, please have your WageWorks Commuter Card ready.

Registration Information
Please note: It’s important that you sign up for Balance Protection.  Balance Protection is a free program that lets you replace a lost or stolen TAP card with its remaining balance or pass information for a $5 fee.  You must sign up for Balance Protection to activate it on your card. If you bought your TAP card online or by calling, you are already enrolled. To sign up for balance protection if you bought your card at a TAP vendor location or at a TAP vending machine, call 866TAPTOGO (866.827.8646) or sign up online.

Please note fare availability when reloading via web or phone.

Option 3: Load your TAP card in person

Load your TAP card at any TAP vending machine located at all Metro Rail or Metro Orange Line Stations or at one of over 400 TAP vendor locations , you may load Metro passes, EZ transit passes, or Stored Value to your existing TAP card using cash or a credit card. Passes for other municipal lines cannot be purchased from TAP Vending Machines. However Stored Value is accepted by 24 transit systems in LA County.

Fares are available immediately.

The WageWorks Commuter Prepaid MasterCard is issued by The Bancorp Bank, member FDIC, pursuant to license by MasterCard International Incorporated. Card can be used at qualified locations everywhere Debit MasterCard is accepted. Card cannot be used cash access or at ATMs.

The WageWorks Visa Prepaid Commuter Card is issued by The Bancorp Bank, member FDIC, pursuant to a license from Visa U.S.A. Inc. Card can be used at qualified locations wherever Visa debit cards are accepted. Card cannot be used at any ATM or for cash access.
