Metro Go To Card

The Go-To Card allows you to pay your fare with just one touch to a reader and can be used over and over again. Go-To Cards are accepted on all regional regular-route buses and trains, so no matter where you ride, your fare is covered.

Go-To Cards also offer balance protection if you register your card. Simply report the loss and for a small fee, you’ll receive a new card with the value remaining on your original card when it was reported lost or stolen.

Adults (ages 13-64) can buy a Go-To Card online, at 100+ retailers including all Cub Foods stores, at Metro Transit Service Centers and employers, social service agencies or schools.

If you qualify for a Reduced Fare (ages 6-12, 65+ and Medicare cardholders), complete a mail order form and include a photocopy of your ID. If you are ordering on behalf of a child without ID, the date of the child’s 13th birthday must accompany your order. You'll receive a Go-To Card that deducts the reduced fare during non-rush hours and allows you to purchase reduced-fare passes.

Customers with limited mobility or ADA certification can buy a Mobility Fares Go-To Card. Complete a mail order form and include a photocopy of a MN driver’s license or state-issued ID with an “L” or “A” endorsement. Go-To Cards provide maximum flexibility. You can add two different types of value – stored value (up to $400), passes or both. Add value online, by phone at 612-373-3333, at Metro Transit Service Centers, any rail station ticket machine or at a Go-To Card retailer.

Multi-day passes

Stored value + Pass = Maximum flexibility!

If you ride nearly every day but the time of day and routes you ride are not consistent, a pass plus stored value might offer the best value.

When you add a $59 31-Day Pass (valid for $1.75 fare) and stored value to your Go-To Card, you can ride any local bus or METRO line. If you need to pay a higher fare, your card will automatically deduct the ride from your pass then pay the remaining fare from your stored value.

Unless you have a $113.50 31-Day Pass (valid for the $3.00 fare) or ride Northstar, it makes sense to add stored value. You'll never be caught without the correct fare!

Lost or stolen cards
Contact Customer Relations at 612-373-3333 or visit a Metro Transit Service Center immediately so the card can be deactivated. If the card is registered, you will receive a replacement card that contains the same value that your original card had at the time it was reported lost, minus a $5 replacement fee.

Non-functioning cards
If your Go-To Card or pass fails to work on a bus, use another form of payment. To receive a replacement card, contact Customer Relations at 612-373-3333 or visit a Metro Transit Service Center. Cards reported lost or stolen are disabled and cannot be reactivated.

No. They use separate readers that are not compatible. You may use a Go-To Card or a SuperSaver, but not both at the same time.

The Go-To readers always use a pass first to pay the fare. If additional fare is required, the reader will automatically deduct the correct amount from any stored value on the card or pass.

Say you have $1 remaining on your Go-To Card and board a bus with a $1.75 fare. When you touch your card to the reader, it will deduct the fare, leaving the card with a negative balance: -75¢. When you add value to the card, the 75¢ you owe will be deducted from the amount added to your card.
