General Information

Metro (styled as METRO) is a light rail and bus rapid transit system which serves the Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan area. As of 2014, the system consists of three lines (Blue, Green and Red) connecting Downtown Minneapolis and St. Paul with Bloomington and Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport, with several extensions in planning stages. The system is operated by Metro Transit for the Blue and Green Lines and by the Minnesota Valley Transit Authority for the Red Line.

The Go-To card is a contactless smart card used to pay fares for bus, light rail, and commuter rail lines operated by Metro Transit and other transit agencies in the Twin Cities area of Minnesota.

A GoTo Card can hold up to a maximum of two passes and/or $400 of stored value.  If your WageWorks order causes you to exceed either of these two maximums, your order will be rejected.  Your WageWorks account will then be credited all pre-tax funds which can be put toward the cost of future commuter elections.  Any post-tax funds will be returned to you.  Your ongoing election will be cancelled to avoid a credit/rejection cycle. Please keep in mind it is up to you to monitor all card balances.

The Go-To readers always use a pass first to pay the fare. If additional fare is required, the reader will automatically deduct the correct amount from any stored value on the card or pass.

Lost or stolen cards:

Contact Metro Customer Relations at 612-373-3333 or visit a Metro Transit Service Center immediately so the card can be deactivated. If the card is registered, you will receive a replacement card that contains the same value that your original card had at the time it was reported lost, minus a $5 replacement fee.  To ensure future elections are loaded to the correct card, please make sure to update your ongoing WageWorks election with your new card number.
