General Information

Metro-North Railroad is second largest commuter railroad in the nation. Its main lines — the Hudson, Harlem, and New Haven — run northward out of Grand Central Terminal, a Beaux-Arts Manhattan landmark, into suburban New York and Connecticut. 

You can return your ticket for full credit. Do not open clear plastic seal and mail the ticket back intact for a full refund. Ticket must be returned back to MNR before the end of the month the ticket is valid for or the ticket will be deemed to have no refund value.  WageWorks will process the credit within 30 days once it is received from MNR.

If you don't receive your Mail&Ride ticket by the last day of the month, purchase another monthly ticket and contact one of the Mail&Ride representatives. To be considered for a credit for a ticket that is lost in the mail, you will be asked to complete and notarize an affidavit supplied by Mail&Ride regarding the matter.

The easiest way to make changes in your account is by Mail&Ride on the Web. You can also call Mail&Ride at 511; from Connecticut, 877-690-5114; out of area 877-690-5116, Monday - Friday 6:30 AM to 5 PM.

Split payments (meaning payment using multiple credit cards) can only be performed on the Web.

You can postpone receiving your ticket for several months by choosing Skip/Suspend Ticket. You will be given a choice of skipping one, two months or suspending your ticket for a longer period of time. If you choose Suspend Account, you may reactivate your account at a later date.

You may cancel your account by selecting Skip/Suspend Ticket. Then choose Cancel Account. Your Mail&Ride account will be permanently terminated.  Please keep in mind that WageWorks will continue to fund your MNR account as long as you continue your WageWorks election.  If you wish to discontinue receiving a Mail&Ride Ticket for a given period of time, you may want to consider terminating or halting your WageWorks election as well.

The timeline of events is as follows:

1. You can log into your account at WageWorks. Select “Enroll in Commuter” then select “Transit." Finally select “MTA Metro-North Railroad” as the service provider. If you haven’t set up a Mail&Ride account with MNR, please contact them directly and then come back to the WageWorks site to make your election.

2. If you’ve selected a WageWorks Visa® Prepaid Commuter Card or a WageWorks MasterCard® Prepaid Commuter Card

, your funds will load to your card by the 20th of the month.

3. Once your WageWorks Commuter Card has loaded you can fund your Mail&Ride account.

4. If you’ve ordered the Express Payment option, we will send the amount of your election to MNR and those funds will be applied towards your Mail&Ride order.  Any remaining balance due will continue to be due in the manner that you have set up with the Mail&Ride program. 

5. You Mail&Ride pass will be delivered to you by the 1st of the benefit month.  

The WageWorks Commuter Prepaid MasterCard is issued by The Bancorp Bank, member FDIC, pursuant to license by MasterCard International Incorporated. Card can be used at qualified locations everywhere Debit MasterCard is accepted. Card cannot be used cash access or at ATMs.

The WageWorks Visa Prepaid Commuter Card is issued by The Bancorp Bank, member FDIC, pursuant to a license from Visa U.S.A. Inc. Card can be used at qualified locations wherever Visa debit cards are accepted. Card cannot be used at any ATM or for cash access.
