  Notifications

WageWorks will:

  • Notify current continuants that we are your COBRA administrative services provider
  • Inform new employees and/or new spouses of their COBRA rights as required by law (notification for existing employees is optional)
  • Provide timely and compliant COBRA election forms to employees after notification of a qualifying event
  • Use USPS proof of mailing to document compliance with COBRA regulations and timeframes
  Administrative Processing

WageWorks will:

  • Process simple, secondary and multiple qualifying events
  • Take receipt of elected coverage forms
  • Process rate changes and address or dependent changes
  • Evaluate eligibility for 11-month extensions due to disability
  • Invoice and collect monthly premiums
  • Verify and reconcile funds
  • Process partial payments in accordance with the ‘insignificant shortfall’ rules.
  • Effect and bill the allowable 50% premium increase during the 11-month extension period due to disability.
  • Distribute collected premiums to you.
  Terminations

WageWorks will effect a termination of COBRA coverage in the advent of:

  • Late, partial or nonpayment
  • COBRA expiration
  • New coverage obtained by continuant
  Reporting and Eligibility

WageWorks offers a range of management reports including:

  • New elections
  • Address and dependent changes
  • Plan changes
  • Termination reports
  Call Center and Client Service

WageWorks client service program includes:

  • Toll-free 24-hour interactive voice response to a continuant status inquiry
  • Toll-free client service available from 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM (E.T.) Monday - Friday
  • Call recording of all service calls
  Documentation

WageWorks also:

  • Digitally and electronically secures and archives your COBRA documentation as required by law (a key element in disallowing unwarranted claims and avoiding unjustified penalties)
  • Maintains secured, monitored, off-site storage for all paper documentation

  • Notification of COBRA Rights to current employees thereby reducing the likelihood of future misunderstandings and claims of noncompliance by either the government or qualified COBRA beneficiaries
